Piccola Issues Statement Regarding Governor's Agreement to Three-Day Gun Sale Suspension

HARRISBURG – Senator Jeffrey E. Piccola (R-15) issued the following statement today reacting to Governor Rendell's decision to close the state system for gun sales.

"Governor Rendell's action to go forward with the shut down of the Pennsylvania Instant Check System is unacceptable. Further, his management of the system conversion had been unacceptable from the beginning.

"This is not the fault of the Pennsylvania State Police. This is the failure of a governor to properly manage internal upgrades of a massive system which has enormous impact on law abiding Pennsylvania Sportsmen.

"In creating an advisory committee several days ago, the governor created the expectation that he was going to respond to the legitimate concerns of sportsmen. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, he ignored them."
