Senate Approves Bill With Piccola Language Moving PSECU Headquarters
HARRISBURG – Under legislation approved by the Senate today, the Pennsylvania
State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) is one step closer toward creating and
retaining hundreds of jobs while remaining in Dauphin County, according to
Senator Jeffrey E. Piccola (R-15).
The Senate passed Senate Bill 648 by a vote of 49-0 which includes language
sponsored by Piccola that would transfer land in Susquehanna Township, Dauphin
County, to PSECU. The credit union is currently headquartered off North Cameron
Street, close to the Harrisburg Area Community College and Pennsylvania Farm
Show Complex. The measure now awaits the governor's signature.
"This new site would give PSECU more room for growth in the coming years and
at the same time keep a local job creator right here in Dauphin County. This
move is a major investment in our area and region," said Piccola. "In addition,
once this project moves forward, PSECU's current site is expected to have a
bright future."
Piccola also noted that PSECU would be responsible for paying the
Commonwealth $2.7 million for the 47 acres. The Pennsylvania Department of
General Services would use the sale proceeds for costs incurred with all
remaining funds deposited in the Agricultural Farm Operations Account.
"The development of this new site will further expand opportunities in
Dauphin County – an area already growing but a community that expects to grow
even more in future years," he added.
