Weekly Column: New Senate Website Unveiled
More and more people are obtaining their information on a regular basis
particularly relating to government and important issues of concern from the
Internet. In order to respond to this growing interest and address the
immediate needs of the residents of Dauphin and Northern York Counties, I have
launched a new and improved website –
www.piccola.org. My site is aimed at better serving you – my
constituents – and keeping you informed and engaged on issues that matter most.
This user-friendly website provides a wealth of information that will keep
you abreast of my activity and allow simple access to state resources. The
website is updated frequently including my public town meeting schedule,
newsletters, daily news clippings reported by the media in this region and
around the state, and a plethora of written materials such as press releases,
editorials and guest columns. In addition, web users can download my monthly
cable television show and view the entire 30-minute program highlighting state
and district issues. All of these features are made available in a clean,
easy-to-use format.
Just as importantly, my new website prominently serves as a focal point for
any activity related to the Senate Education Committee which I chair.
Testimony, video, and legislation from public hearings and committee meetings
are easily accessible as well as information on the budget and state
regulations. A number of significant and useful educational resources to
various coalitions and organizations are also found on the website and link
visitors to data, trends, research, and other information regarding education in
the Commonwealth.
Another interesting feature of the new website is the ability to access my
e-newsletter, an electronic bulletin of news emailed to residents in the 15th
Senatorial District on a biweekly basis. The newsletter includes a brief
snapshot of my whereabouts in the community and the work I've been doing on the
most pressing current issues impacting not only our area but also statewide.
Those who are interested in receiving my e-newsletter may do so by subscribing
via the website.
The new website continues to incorporate some features from my previous
website as well, such as the ability to research the status, history, or text of
a bill. It also continues to provide information on my four advisory committees
including membership opportunities for agriculture and sportsman advocates,
veterans, and members of the business community. Finally on the site, you will
find publications relating to a variety of state-government services and
direction on how I can best serve you on legislative matters or issues relating
to birth and death certificates, driver's licenses, property tax and rent rebate
forms, or Senatorial citations.
I am hopeful that you find my new website –
www.piccola.org – beneficial as it was created with the intent to
provide you with around-the-clock access to my activities and initiatives and
up-to-date news on my legislative priorities. This technology is an excellent
resource that will help to keep you better informed about what is happening in
state government and in my own district. This online resource is here to serve
you and I look forward to hearing your views and suggestions. |
